The Challenge
Paper certificates and emailed PDFs are impossible to verify and trivially easy to falsify.
As PhytoPedia began issuing certifications to graduates entering a regulated industry, the credential itself needed to carry verifiable weight — something that a prospective employer or regulator could confirm independently without calling TrustTech or the student.
The cannabis industry's regulatory environment makes unverifiable credentials a liability, not just an inconvenience.
02 / Solution
Our Solution
We built a digital licensing system tightly integrated with PhytoPedia's assessment workflow.
When a student completes their curriculum requirements and passes their assessment, a digital licence is automatically issued — with a unique identifier, issue date, expiry date, and the specific credentials it represents.
Licences are hosted in the platform and accessible to the holder through their account. A public-facing verification lookup allows employers and regulators to confirm licence validity by ID — no phone calls, no paper, no ambiguity.
Renewal workflows track expiry dates and alert holders before lapse. The licence record links back to the specific curriculum completed and assessment passed.

PhytoPedia graduates hold verifiable digital licences that carry regulatory credibility — a step above paper certificates in an industry where credential integrity matters.
Employers and regulators can verify licence validity independently through the public lookup. Renewal tracking ensures licences don't lapse unnoticed.
